El año 85 tenía 15 años y el breakdance ya era conocido en Chile, en Puerto Montt no nos quedábamos atrás y cuando el clima lo permitía y las pilas de la radio nos acompañaban bailábamos en las calles.
Toda cassete (por que en ese tiempo lo más barato eran los cassettes) que contuviese algún tema de breakdance era pirateado. Entre estos hay una cinta que se llamaba "The Best Music for Breakin'". En ella salía un serie de temas de un grupo llamado "Alex And The Crew" y en el lado B del cassette entre otros venía un tema muy intenso, con rapeos y melodías egipcias. El grupo se llamaba "Twilight 22" (Crepúsculo 22) y el tema "Electric Kingdom" (Reino Eléctrico).
Más de 20 años después (que viejo que estoy) encontré ese tema a través del KaZaA y el Limewire pa' Macintosh. Para sorpresa mía encontré además otro tema muy parecido del mismo grupo llamado "Siberian Night" (Noches Siberianas).
Debo agregar además que me di cuenta de que el la versión que escuchábamos en el cassette que llegó a Chile estaba recortada, pues la original dura 6:48 minutos y la del cassette debe haber durado uno 3 minutos. De seguro lo sellos discográficos en Chile sabían que el público masivo de los 80 no estaba acostumbrado a versiones largas de los temas. No es el único caso pues el tema "Reckless" de la banda de sonido de Breakdance que llegó a Chile también duraba como 3 minutos y la original dura 6:47 mins.
Hoy se que el estilo de este grupo es conocido como "Electro" y averiguando en Internet sobre este grupo encontré lo siguiente:

Twilight 22 fue una idea de Gordon Bahary con algo de ayuda del vocalistay co-escritor Joseph Saulter. Gordon creó inicialmente el grupo debido a su amor por los computadores y sintetizadores. A los 16 años el estuvo presente durante las grabaciones de uno de los álbumes de Stevie Wonder (Songs In The Key Of Life). Gordon hizo suigerencias a Stevie relativas a las grabaciones. Wonder quedó tan sorprendido con las sugerencias del muchacho que lo motivó a producir y programar sitetizadores en su siguiente álbum (Journey Through The Secret Of Plants).
Gordon conoció a Joseph Salter a través de Herbie Hancock (Gordon también trabajó con Hancock en uno de sus álbumes, Feets Don't Fail Me Now). Joseph había sido baterista de el grupo "Rhythm Ignition" de L.A.. Después de qeu el grupo se disolvió, Joseph y Gordon se reunieron para formar Twilight 22. En Vanguard Records el dúo grabó "Twilight 22" (1984) del cual "Electric Kingdom" y "Siberian Nights" atrajo a los fanáticos del electro, 'Mysterious' a los del Soul, y 'In The Night' a los del jazz fusión.
Me queda por conseguir el resto de los temas de Twilight 22 y averiguar que es de sus vidas hoy en día.
